Catherine
Mulvihill
Professional Ice Climber
Canmore, Alberta
Catherine Mulvihill's beginnings make her an unlikely candidate
for the world-travelled professional ice climber that she has
become. Born and raised in rural North Carolina, she hadn't even
camped until college, say nothing about climbing in the Himalayas.
Yet, thatŐs what she found herself doing after college. While
on location in Tibet as the base camp manager during the filming
of a documentary on Mt. Everest, Catherine met alpinist Barry
Blanchard. From there, she migrated back to Canada with him and
has been ice climbing ever since. Her credits include several
difficult routes in the Canadian Rockies - among them several
multi-pitched waterfalls.
