Francine
Moreillon
Extreme Ski Champion
Geneva, Switzerland
The title of 1998 World Extreme Skiing Champion is one that Francine
Moreillon wears with pride. It means having conquered some of
the steepest lines in the world, and consistently placing in the
top 5 in several extreme competitions in a row. When Moreillon
won the final World Extreme Skiing competition in Valdez, Alaska,
last spring, it was the culmination of years of preparation. Moreillon
had also won the European title of Extreme Skiing Champion just
months prior and has since risen among the prestigious echelon
of European women to watch in the sport. Ask her what she likes
to do most and she'll say anything that takes place in the mountains.
When not competing, she enjoys spending time with friends and
traveling. Moreillon once spent 5 months backpacking through Asia
where she said; "I've learned more about humanity and myself than
all I've been taught in school."
